This album simultaneously presents, for the first time, the complete ballet “Tango Buenos Aires” (Eduardo Rovira and his Octeto La Plata, 1958) and “Tango Ballet” (Astor Piazzolla and his Octeto Buenos Aires, 1956). These works are the first ballets with themes taken from modern urban folklore (tango).
This repertoire was largely lost and hasn’t been performed in its original form since the 1960s. Thanks to the intensive transcription work of 11 pieces, the “Tango Buenos Aires” from Rovira has now been given a new life.
